“A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be. This weed we call self-actualization…. It refers to man’s desire for self-fulfillment, namely to the tendency for him to become actually in what he is potentially: to become everything one is capable of becoming.” —Abraham Maslow

Thank you Brucie

It seems that to Iron Maiden’s legendary vocalist-cum-aerial chauffeur, Bruce Dickinson, all of us music lovers with shallow and ever emptying pockets may soon owe a favour.

Brucie, or B.Dickie as he undoubtably has his harem of high-class whores call him, recently attacked the high cost of gig tickets that can sometimes be a real pain in the arse for people like me who love seeings bands live, but don’t have much money to pay for the tickets.

With concert audiences down by an average 17% and musical acts like Rihanna, “XTina” Aguilera and even bands as venerable as The Eagles being forced to cancel shows because lack of sales Dickinson criticised the musical acts that charge their fans high prices. He said to Sky news:

It’s a massive commitment to come and see a band, They deserve not just a great show, but reasonable ticket prices. It’s just not right, you know - it’s a rock ‘n’ roll show, it’s not a cash cow.

Iron Maiden, Have always smiled and looked upon their peasantly fans very favourably from on top of their metaphorical solid gold and diamond encrusted palace of fame and fortune, and the release of their 15th studio album, The Final Frontier, on 16th of August is eagerly waited by fans worldwide. They will be closing this weekend’s Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth with the new album and material mainly from when Dickinson rejoined the band in ‘99.

Let’s hope we see a reduction in gig tickets soon, Bruce’s advice came at a desperate time for the music industry (Which all of us thieving bastards that don’t pay for music are to blame for)
